Sardinia is one of the places of the Mediterranean that, besides some wind which is typical of islands, has  a very pleasant and suitable climate for summer holidays and tourism in general all year round. Along the coast hot and dry days from the end of May till the beginning of October alternate with mild and temperate winters.

The main island with its smaller islands has 1897 km of coastline which equal a quarter of the Italian coasts and is situated right in the centre of the Mediterranean sea nearly between Sicily and Corsica.

The traditional Sardinian cuisine is well known for its simple, but very tasty recipes. When you travel around the island you see animals bred in the wild, as still nowadays this is the most typical way to raise animals rather than keeping them in a farm.

GALLURA region
Gallura is the north-east part of Sardinia. It is one of the most famous region of the island thanks to the Emerald Coast, La Maddalena archipelago and the delicious local wine Vermentino di Gallura D.O.C.G.

Among the most popular souvenirs for friends and relatives there is the red and the white Sardinian Myrtle liquor. You can buy it homemade in family activities, in supermarkets or in specialized shop for local products. Sometimes the bottles are even covered by cork with colourful images of the Sardinian tradition. 

The best facilities for night life and entertainment are offered in holiday destinations like Olbia, San Teodoro, Porto Cervo, Alghero and Cagliari. The Emerald Coast is the most popular area for those who look for a high standard night life, good music and themed parties all over the summer period. There you may find plenty of cafés, music bars, discos and clubs that are open all night long and offer to Italian and foreign tourists a lot of good music and fresh drinks.

By plane
The fastest and most comfortable way to reach Sardinia is of course by plane. During the summer season Olbia airport becomes the most important of the island and the 8th busiest of Italy. Every year more than 2 million passengers arrive at Costa Smeralda International airport in Olbia.
