Beaches in Sardinia

Long sandy beaches, bays and marvellous high dunes or glistening tiny stones... You can find all this on the Sardinian beaches that dot the coastline. They are so different that you always find your favorite and perfect beach.

Transparent light-blue or emerald-colour water is nearly everywhere. The coast changes from flat small beaches with shallow water to the high limestone cliffs falling down to the sea. Otherwise you may look for bays or coves with a rich underwater life in the protected areas all over Sardinia: La Maddalena Archipelago, Asinara island,  Orosei Gulf, Sinis Peninsula, Capo Carbonara, Capocaccia, Tavolara.

Some beaches are more than 10 km long while others are short and narrow, but ideal for your privacy. In some of them you‘ll find pine trees woods and large parking places nearby, others can be reached only by boat. Sometimes it is necessary to pass in the middle of the thick Mediterranean scrub and reach the beach on foot. However, many of them, especially the biggest ones, have the parking areas close to the beach or are connected with public transports. At the end it is hard to decide where to pass your holidays, but I can tell you that each beach and part of the coast is worth a visit. Sardinia has also the ideal conditions for water sports. In all the touristic centres and locations you find boats to rent, dinghies, but also have the chance for snorkelling, diving, windsurfing, water skiing, kite-surfing etc. During the last years sailing has become more and more popular and many ports are equipped for regattas.
