Day 1 - Perfumes and colours of Costa Smeralda

In the afternoon visit Costa Smerlada area (Emerald coast) with a stop in Porto Cervo dotted with the most fashionable boutiques and famous for its hotels and villas designed by architects of international reputation. Its port during the summer season is full of elegant and expensive yachts. Costa Smeralda means also beautiful tiny beaches with clean emerald water and pristine nature where the Mediterranean maquis dominates with its ever green bushes and unforgettable perfumes. Stop in one of the beaches for bathing or walking. Stop at Baja Sardinia - a little modern village on the coast. Another must is a stop in San Pantaleo, a traditional "Gallura" village where a mix of little granite houses, winding little streets, workshops and local inhabitants offers a real hint of everyday life. Dinner and overnight at the hotel.

Day 2 - Barbagia region, Nuoro and Orgosolo

Departure after breakfast to Barbagia area. Visit to the Museum of Costumes in Nuoro to discover Sardinian traditions and a rich collection of the original objects donated to the museum by the local people (costumes, jewels, musical instruments, carpets, tools, etc), then continue to visit Orgosolo. This village is famous for the murales painted on the walls of the houses. They were first created at the end of the 60's as a local protest and nowadays to point out present problems which distress the entire world. Lunch with the shepherds to taste local food cooked on the spot according to ancient recepies. Dinner and overnight at the hotel.

Day 3 - The nuragic civilization and La Maddalena national park

Departure after breakfast to visit the nuragic village la Prisgiona, a very interesting example of Sardinian archaeological site dating back to the Bronze age. It is a building made of one main tower, two lateral towers and a group of "single rooms" standing around the main courtyard where the well is situated. Proceed to Palau to take the ferry to La Maddalena island. Lunch on your own in town. Tour of la Maddalena island by bus and stop to visit the Garibaldi’s Museum on Caprera island: the place which hosted the most famous Italian hero of the XIX century for 26 years. Then make your way back to the hotel for dinner and overnight.

Day 4 - Cork, wine, wild olive trees and granite

Departure after breakfast to visit inland Gallura dotted with granite hills, cork trees, vinyards and some rural houses named stazzo. Stop to admire one of the oldest trees of Europe, a huge outstanding wild olive tree and carry on to a cork workshop to understand the importance of this natural product which makes Sardinia the third largest producer of cork in the world. Proceed to a local winery to appreciate the centuries-old tradition of wine making. Departure during the afternoon.
