The island of Tavolara is a majestic limestone massif that rises directly from the sea up to 565 meters above sea level. It’s a pearl of Gallura and it appears like a mountain fallen from the sky. Sometimes it seems suspended between the blue sea and some white clouds. The island is the major of a protected area since 1997 called Tavolara and Capo Coda Cavallo.
Day excursion
The departure for a mini cruise in the Gulf of Orosei is from the port of Orosei (or La Caletta or Cala Gonone) situated on the east coast of Sardinia and the whole trip is done along the same sea shore.
The Gennargentu National Park extends from the eastern sea shore of Sardinia close to Orosei and southwards, up to the mountains in the hinterland. One of the most interesting parts in the Sardinian hinterland is Supramonte. For nature lovers I suggest a very interesting trip by Jeeps car. You will be driven to the countryside leaving by Jeeps directly from your hotel.
Nuoro is situated in the central part of the island called Barbagia. It is the most important town of the area, and offers several interesting destinations for a visit.
If you are in the North East Sardinia and you would like to see something different at night, I suggest you to reach Porto Cervo in Costa Smeralda. This area is situated northwards from Olbia. and its main centre is Porto Cervo with its luxury hotels, restaurants, clubs and boutiques.
Meet your guide and drive to Porto Cervo along the panoramic road. Cross Cugnana Golf and admire Cala di Volpe with its beautiful view over the sea and Liscia Ruja beach. In the distance admire the isles of Mortorio, Soffi and le Camere. On your way to Porto Cervo we can take a glance from the distance to Porto Rotondo and Pevero Golf Club.
A full day trip to Bonifacio in Corsica. During the transfer to Santa Teresa Gallura port there is a chance to admire the northern part of Sardinia.
